Who builds it

imagetolatex is designed, built and run by one independent developer. There is no sales team and no outsourced support desk: messages to support@imagetolatex.com reach the person who writes the code.

How recognition works

Each kind of input goes to the service that read it best in our tests. You always see the LaTeX next to a rendered preview, so you can fix a symbol before you copy it or export to Word.

A printed formula: a screenshot, a PDF snip or a photo of a textbook

Google's Gemini models, reached through APIMart, or Google's Gemini API directly when APIMart is unavailable

Handwriting, and any formula you re-run with high accuracy

How accuracy was tested

Before launch, on September 29, 2026, we ran public benchmark images through the same recognition the site uses. A result counted as a match when its LaTeX was the same as the reference after normalizing spacing and notation, or when both rendered to the same math structure.

The reference answers in these datasets have their own mistakes, so no engine reaches 100%; Mathpix scored 85.0% on the same 140 formulas. Handwriting and crowded pages are harder than printed formulas, which is why the preview and the editor sit next to every result.

What happens to your files

• Files you upload are deleted from our storage within 1 hour.
• Results are kept for 24 hours so you can download them again, then deleted.
• Your images, documents and formulas are never used to train AI models.
• The recognition services receive only the image or document you submit, nothing about your account.

How imagetolatex is paid for

Printed formulas are free within daily limits, and the LaTeX editor and table generator are free to use. Handwriting, pages and documents are paid for with credits from a plan or a one-off pack; see Pricing. Waffo Pancake is our Merchant of Record: it runs checkout, handles sales tax and VAT and sends your receipt. Refunds follow the Refund Policy and use of the site the Terms of Service.
