How to Get LaTeX from ChatGPT

ChatGPT writes LaTeX well, but by default it renders the math instead of showing the code. Ask for the source in a code block, copy it with the code block's copy button, and paste it into a live preview to catch errors (a missing brace, an unknown command) before it breaks your Overleaf build or Word equation.

Step 1: ask for code, not rendered math

For formulas
Write the LaTeX for the formulas above inside a code block. Math only, no $ delimiters, no explanation.
For a table or a document fragment
Give me compilable LaTeX for this table using booktabs, inside one code block. List the packages it needs.

Asking for "no delimiters" helps when the code goes into a Word equation; for an Overleaf document you usually want the delimiters or the equation environment included.

Step 2: check it renders

Paste the formula into the free LaTeX equation editor. It renders with MathJax as you type and reports errors in plain words, so you see a missing brace immediately:
